This year is full of fantastic festival foods featuring everything from smoked meats to cool treats. The festival has everything covered to satisfy your sweet tooth and give you the meat sweats.
The beaver has been Canada’s national symbol for hundreds of years. Settlers lived off their tails, which as everyone knows, are made of dough and when deep fried and covered in delicious toppings were an excellent source of energy to keep them warm in the unforgiving Canadian wilderness. OK, 90% of that was lies, but this Canadian staple which mixes fried dough, sugar and an insane variety of toppings has made these tasty treats famous around the country. Perfect as a portable snack, Beavertails will be offering a variety of different flavors, from chocolate and hazelnut and each and everyone will undoubtedly please!
They say, “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade”! OK, who are we kidding… the lemons will sit in the back of the fridge never reaching their full lemony potential! But you know who is making killer lemonade? Big Lemon Handcrafted Lemonade! And they will be pouring the most refreshing Freshly Squeezed Hand-Crafted Lemonade you’ve had the chance to pucker up to this year at the Festival! Sylvain & Brad, the owners and founders of Ottawa’s Mr. Sundae are excited to bring their local, freshly squeezed lemonade to the Festival this year! No need to be a sourpuss because easy peasy lemon squeezy, your day will be refreshing and breezy!
MR. SUNDAE
Did you know that ice cream can be beneficial for you? It contains B12, B6, D, C and E, and is an excellent source of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates! And there’s no better way to beat the Festival heat than with a frozen treat from Mr. Sundae! Sylvain & Brad, the owners and founders of Mr. Sundae, have been serving incredible and unique chilly delights since 2014 and you can experience them all for yourself this year at the festival! Choose from the richest of soft serve ice creams covered in Belgian milk chocolate dip, fruity and refreshing Hawaiian shaved ice or their mouth-watering chocolate covered cheesecake! Don’t worry if you can’t decide. Just get one of everything…you’ll be sure you stay cool in the summer heat! Mr. Sundae is also committed to the environment by offering paper straws and cups and using as many biodegradable PLA plastic products as possible.
SPRING CHIPS
Potatoes may have been the first vegetable grown in space, but you don’t have to go to space to enjoy Spring Chips’ potatoes with a twist! Started in the heart of Ottawa’s Byward Market, and made with local Canadian potatoes, Spring Chips delights customers with their out of this world fried to a twist snack. Tang Hu Lu Candy Fruits, made with fresh strawberries, grapes and tangerines on the day of sale by pastry chefs.
