Only three bands have been announced so far, but the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival is already shaping up to be a hard-hitting music event for concertgoers this summer. Festival organizers announced Tuesday the Saskatchewan-based rockers The Sheepdogs are headlining Friday night of the fest. The three-time Juno winner, who landed on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine in 2011, will be joined by Cuff the Duke and Harlan Pepper for the opening night of the festival June 20. “It’s going to be a great Friday night for sure,” said Antony Cooper, the festivals artistic director.

If you can't catch Canadian folk rockers The Sheepdogs at Algonquin College in March, you'll get another chance to see the band -- for free -- in June. The Sheepdogs have been announced as the headliners at the Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival on Friday, June 20. It'll be their second appearance in Ottawa this year; they also have a gig at the Algonquin Commons Theatre on March 14. The Saskatoon natives will join roots rockers Cuff The Duke and indie folk band Harlan Pepper at the festival.

The lineup for the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival keeps getting better and better with Hamilton rockers Arkells now headlining the Saturday night of the festival June 21. Artistic Director Antony Cooper made the announcement Monday night and although the summer festival is months away, the excitement is building.
