"LEGOTTAWA DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL" A PASSION PROJECT BY LEGO ARTIST MATTHEW READY

Come to Mooneys Bay to witness all the fun both big and small when you watch the races and take in the grandeur of a miniature festival from LEGO artist Matthew Ready. The mini-festival will be on display June 24-26 in Paddlers Paradise on the beach.

Before the pandemic Matt Ready had been a part of the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival operations team for every edition of the festival (summer, winter and even a virtual festival) since 2017, so he decided he wasn't going to let COVID forcing the cancellation of the 2020 edition bring an end to consecutive seasons of participating in helping build the festival. And that's exactly what he did, he built a whole Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival out of LEGO bricks, or should we say, LEGOttawa Dragon Boat Festival.

From the opening ceremony to the dragon boat races right up to the closing concert and all of the mascots, food, awards, and fun in between; he brought the 2020 festival to life through his passion for brick building and photography so he could keep the event going that had given and meant so much to him over the previous years. In fact, if you look close enough you may even spot some familiar minifigs throughout the brick-sized festivities because he made sure he brought all his festival friends along too. There may even be a Minifig-Matt to spot if you know where to look!
