Metro News: What to do in Ottawa this weekend June 26-28

This year Canada Day is on a Wednesday, so prepare for tourist-congested streets starting this weekend and a whole lot of red and white in the lead-up to the big day. Until then, there’s lots of other things taking place in the city Saturday and Sunday–including great music, sports and food.

Environment Canada is calling for a 40 per cent possibility of rain on Saturday and a 70 per cent chance on Sunday, so dress accordingly for outdoor events.

1. Dragon Boat Festival (all weekend)

The country’s largest Dragon Boat Festival starts Thursday night and continues all weekend, raising money for Ottawa charities in Mooney’s Bay Park. In recent years, major musical headliners have become just as exciting as the colourful boat races. This year, 13 different bands are playing, including Yukon Blonde, Hey Rosetta! and Tokyo Police Club.
