Hope and Ruin is packed with tracks that take their time and don't mind softening their rock anthem punch, but he thinks it still delivers what fans and the band want from the Trews, which is hooks and melodies and that North Star spirit.

That something will be put to the test at Mooney's Bay June 17, when the Trews headline opening night of the Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival. It's one of many festival dates the band will play during the brief respite we call summer.
