Broken Social Scene
Broken Social Scene, nominated for Group of the Year at this Sunday's Juno Awards.

With the Juno Awards set to recognize achievement in Canadian music this weekend, we here at the Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival thought we’d look into the festival’s connections to the annual awards show and boy were we impressed. This June (21st-24th) when the paddlers have called it a day we will keep the party going with four-nights of free concerts on the Rideau Carleton Raceway Casino Hillside Stage that will certainly do its best to maintain the energy and volume of the day’s races, and when the amps get cranked up to 11, it will be done so with the power of at least 11 Juno awards and an outstanding 34 combined Juno nominations. Not a single night will be free of the Juno footprint as we have put together a special lineup for the 25th edition of the festival which, for the first time in festival history, includes an all Juno Winner collection of headliners.

Opening night of the festival will be headlined by 6-time Juno Award winner Sam Roberts; Up for Group of the Year this Sunday is our Friday night headliner, and 2-time Juno Winner, Broken Social Scene; 2008 New Group of the Year, Wintersleep take the stage Saturday night at the festival; and the festival will be closed out by 2014 Rock Album of the Year winner, Matt Mays. Adding Juno support to these four headliners will be 2011 New Group of the Year nominee, Hollerado on Saturday, June 23 and fellow Juno nominee Crag Cardiff opens things up the following day on Sunday, June 24.
